Hola a todos! I am a Student Recruitment Specialist for the High School Equivalency program under El Centro de la Raza. My family is from Durango, Durango, MX. However, my mother left her Patria in search of better opportunities in the United States. Upon her arrival in Iowa, she had me and quickly after, we moved to California before finally settling in Estancia, NM. During my time as an undergraduate student, I was always involved with El Centro through various capacities. From being a Peer Leader for the College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP), to being a research fellow in the El Puente Research Fellowship Program, El Centro became my home away from home. Every time I had a question, needed guidance, or simply wanted a space to study, the staff was always there for me. These experiences as an undergraduate student made me realize that I wanted to give back to my community in the same way El Centro did for me. My goal is to elevate the student experience in both the UNM and broader New Mexico community.
