My name is Jorge Garcia, and I was born and raised in the city of San Luis Potosi in Mexico. In 1999, I obtained an undergraduate degree in sociology. In 2004 I obtained a master’s degree in Language Literacy and Sociocultural education with an emphasis on transnational networks. In 2015, I obtained an MBA from UNM with a focus on international education. I am currently enrolled in a PhD program in Chicana/o Studies at the University of New Mexico. I am part of the community of Atrisco. I have focused my studies, and currently use, Mesoamerican calendars and cultural precepts to understand social, cultural, political, and economic dynamics. My main goal is to empower underprivileged students and so I focus on issues related to identity, culture, and community.
