Counseling Services
MHC’s counseling services consist of free, short-term, trauma-informed counseling services that open on the first day of each semester and run for the duration of the term (6-15 sessions). Our counseling team consists of graduate-level counseling internship students who provide telehealth or in-person sessions in English, Spanish, and ASL interpretation at our office spaces located in El Centro, WRC, and North Campus-Vassar House. Our intake process typically closes 8-9 weeks into the semester (November for the Fall semester and April for the Spring semester) to ensure that a minimum of 6 sessions can be offered before the end of each semester.
Additionally, MHC offers psychoeducation workshops on mental wellness and self-care throughout the academic year. Please follow MHC’s and our student resource center’s handles for event announcements:
Common reasons students utilize the MHC counseling services:
- Gender-based violence
- Race-based trauma
- Understanding one’s sexual/gender identity
- Self-esteem/self-confidence
- Anxiety/Depression
- Adjusting to college
- Grief and loss
- Relationship issues
